The Clips Section
The Clips section allows you extract and
replace sections of a video track.

Note: The clips
workflow on the Media Item Details page and
the CPL Editor are identical.
Creating a Clip
To create a clip:
- From the Media Item Details page, on
the Clips section, click Create.
The Create New Clip dialog is displayed.

- Type a Name and Description
to be displayed in the Clip section. Additionally,
choose a Parent Clip to make
the current clip its newer version.
- Fill in the Frames, Timecode,
and Absolute Time for each of the columns
(Entry Point, Out
Point, Duration).
Note: Entry Point, Out Point,
and Duration refer to frames for video
tracks or sample counts for audio tracks.
- Click Save to save changes and continue
editing or click Save & Return to
save changes and return to the Media Item Details
page.
- The clip is now displayed in the Clips
section.
Added Clip
Extracting a Clip
To extract a clip from a video:
- From the Media Item Details page, on
the Clips section, click
Extract
for the clip you want to extract. The clip is extracted from
the video track with a Track Demuxing
task. To view its progress, click
Expand.
Extracted Clip Details
- You can now download the extracted clip by clicking
Download.
Note: If you extract
a clip from the CPL Editor, you can see the
section in the image track.

Replace an Extracted Clip
While you can extract clips from both the Media
Item Details page and the CPL Editor,
you can replace an extracted clip only from the CPL
Editor.
To replace an extracted clip:
- From the CPL Editor, on the Clips
section, click
Upload
for the clip you want to replace. The Add Media
Item dialog is displayed.

- Browse for a file or drag and drop a file.
Note: Make
sure that the file you upload does not already exist in the destination
location.
- After the file has finished uploading, click Replace
Clip, and choose the uploaded file.
- The CPL track is updated to reflect the new segments.
